German Holiday Window Arch
Made by Dennis Ward
Around the winter holidays, windows throughout eastern Germany are lit with the lights of Schwibbögen. These decorations, made of wrought iron, date back over 270 years to the silver mines of the Erzgebirge in Germany. After finishing a long, hard day in the mines, miners would hang their lanterns at the mine entrance. The twinkling lights formed a glittering arch, and these lantern arches were the inspiration for Schwibbögen. Your laser cut Schwibbögen may be decorated any way you like. Add a string of LED lights behind the candle silhouettes to welcome visitors to your house.
